From the Pastor Search Team
Dear Crossroads Family,
God has provided a man who is listening to the Lord and saying “Yes, I will accept the call to be the next Crossroads Senior Pastor”. The Pastor Search Team humbly submitted Aaron West as our recommended candidate to the Elders on November 11th.
The Pastor Search Team recommendation came as the result of 10 months of searching through over 100 resumes, numerous candidate and reference interviews, lots of prayer, debate, discussion, tears, joy, and at times sorrow. Through it all the Search Team recognized that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, so that, when we talked to a candidate or a reference, it wasn’t just an interview—it was a discernment process for both sides. The fit had to be right for Crossroads and also our next pastor. The process therefore was a spiritual discernment task versus a human resources hiring process. We knew we were on the right path with this approach when the enemy attacks started happening. To God be the glory.
Aaron West. We met him just after Round One of the pastor search process was completed. Afterwards, we spent about two months walking with him through the process. He’s an incredible man of God who was serving as an Associate Pastor at Seaford Baptist Church. He is fully aligned with Crossroads’ motto, "We start where you are.” Aaron and his wife Heather are excited about the call to come to Crossroads.
Crossroads, thank you so much for giving our team this opportunity to serve. Thank you so much for your prayers. Thanks for your patience. This was a once in a lifetime experience for all of us. We were indeed a team through the entire process. Yes, we’re glad to be finished, but will miss the time we spent together.

We are excited about what God is doing in our lives and in the life of the Crossroads community! I’m a big time family guy so let me tell you a little about my family. I’ve been married to my wife Heather for 14 years. We grew up together and were friends long before we fell in love and got married. I’m thankful every day for such a gracious and beautiful wife. We have two children that keep us on the road. Emma, our 10 year old daughter loves sports and is mature beyond her years. Our son Ethan is 9 and is a Taekwondo green belt that is tenderhearted and loves people. They are such a gift to us.
I gave my heart to Jesus at the age of seven years old and was called into full time ministry during high school. I served at Immanuel Baptist in Newport News as Youth Pastor for 5 years and then at Seaford Baptist for the past 10 years in a variety of ministries. God has blessed our time in both of these churches and we are thankful for God’s ultimate leadership and the relationships that will last a lifetime.
We are humbled and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the ministry at Crossroads Community. During the past year my wife and I have felt God preparing us for this day. We’ve prayed and sought hard after God’s direction for our family. We’ve listened and tried to make sense of where and when. The thought of leaving our current ministry has been heartbreaking but God is calling and He is already providing peace and new friendships. It has been amazing to watch this process unfold with the search team and elders here at Crossroads. In every meeting and in every conversation our love for this place has grown and God’s hand has become more and more evident. It is clear to us that God is moving us and we are excited for the opportunity to be in His plan for Crossroads and to partner with you.
When I look at Crossroads I see a church and people who love God, His Word and the community. These are the things that matter most to God and so they matter most to me. The potential is enormous for this church and I can’t wait to see what great things God does at Crossroads.
